Maya AI and Otterly solve the same problem — knowing how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and the other assistants talk about your brand — at very different entry points: $29/mo versus $99/mo. The cheaper tool is genuinely good at what it does, so the real question isn't "which is better" but "which job are you hiring it for": a low-cost monitor, or a platform that also fixes what it finds.
Full disclosure: Maya publishes this comparison and is one of the two products in it. We've tried to be fair — including where Otterly is the smarter purchase — because a comparison you can't trust is worth nothing, to you or to the AI assistants that increasingly read these pages. Pricing was last reviewed in October 2026; verify current rates on each vendor's site.

Price of entry: Otterly wins, clearly
At $29/mo, Otterly's Lite tier is the easiest on-ramp in the category — about a third of Maya's Starter price. For a solo marketer, a founder checking whether AI even mentions their brand, or a team that needs to see the problem before budgeting for it, that's the right first purchase and we'd say so to anyone who asks.
The honest caveats are the two caps baked into the headline price. Fifteen prompts is a small map — enough to cover your brand name and a handful of competitor and category questions, not enough to cover the long tail of questions buyers actually ask. And the engine list is where the add-on math starts: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Copilot are included, but Gemini, Claude, and Google AI Mode cost extra. Real multi-engine coverage ends up meaningfully above $29. Our guide to calculating the real cost of AI visibility tools walks through exactly this trap — compare the coverage you need, not the sticker.
Coverage: what the sticker price includes
Maya's Starter is $99/mo with 60 prompts, and the engine list — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode — comes without per-engine fees. Both tools include unlimited seats, which is worth flagging as something Otterly gets right that several bigger-name competitors don't.
Maya also runs prompts repeatedly and reports averages rather than sampling once — AI answers are non-deterministic, and single samples flatter or punish you at random. And it scores sentiment and prompt-level citations: not just whether you appeared, but how the answer framed you and which sources it leaned on.
One feature flows the other way: Otterly's predictive scoring estimates whether AI will cite a page before you publish it. Maya audits and scores existing pages, but as a standalone pre-publish predictor, that's an Otterly feature we think is genuinely clever.
Beyond measuring: the fix loop
This is the structural difference. Otterly is a monitor — a good one. When it finds a gap, the fixing happens in your other tools.
Maya ships the next steps in the same product, and the centerpiece is action plans: every gap the tracking finds becomes a prioritized, assignable to-do with the reasoning attached. A site auditor and GEO roadmaps sequence the bigger fixes, a content writer turns a gap into a draft and publishes to WordPress, feed optimization tunes your product data, and an MCP server brings your visibility data into ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor. Brands following Maya's GEO Roadmap see an average 2.4x visibility lift. (Otterly's Premium tier also offers API and MCP access, to be fair — the difference is the built-in remediation workflow, not the plumbing.)
There is also a layer most monitoring tools don't cover: Stalker, Maya's social listening engine, scans 11 sources (Reddit, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, review sites and more) for brand mentions, AI-judges each for relevance and tone, cross-checks which posts AI assistants actually cite, and turns the questions people ask into trackable prompts.
There's also a market dimension: Maya runs deep in non-English markets, notably Turkish, where most of the category is English-first. If your prompts aren't in English, test both tools on your real prompt set before trusting any feature table — including this one.
Choose Otterly if…
- You're testing the waters and $29/mo is the budget — it's the cheapest serious monitor in the category.
- You mainly need ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Copilot, and 15 prompts covers your map.
- Pre-publish predictive scoring fits how your content team works.
Choose Maya if…
- You've confirmed the problem and want to manage AI visibility as a channel — more prompts, repeated runs, sentiment, citation tracing.
- You need Gemini, Claude, and the full engine list without add-on math.
- You operate in non-English markets, especially Turkish.
- You want the same tool to fix what it measures — action plans that turn every gap into an assignable to-do, plus audits, drafts, publishing.
- You want social listening in the same platform — Stalker's 11-source mention scanning with AI-citation cross-checks.
Bottom line
Otterly is the right first tool for a lot of teams, and the wrong last one for most of them. Start there if budget decides; move up when the prompt cap or the engine add-ons start to bind, or when "we know our score" needs to become "we changed it." For how both fit into the wider market, see the nine-tool comparison.
