How we measure

The prompt set is curated with sector expertise and versioned; the same questions run on the same platforms every week. A brand's score is the share of analyzed answers in which the brand is recommended by name or known aliases. Platform-days with technical outages are excluded. Published weekly results are frozen and never restated. Mention rate is computed per individual answer: the same question counts as six separate answers across the six platforms.

Frequently asked questions

Which cosmetics brands do AI assistants recommend?
In this week's measurement the most recommended brand is La Roche-Posay, named in 7.4% of AI answers to cosmetics questions, followed by Bioderma and CeraVe. The ranking is re-measured every week.
How is this index measured?
Every week, unbranded questions of the kind real users ask are run across 6 AI platforms. Each answer is scored separately for which brands are recommended, where in the answer they appear, and whether the language used about them is positive. Mention rate is computed per individual answer: the same question counts as six answers across the six platforms.
Which AI platforms are tested?
ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google (AI Overview & AI Mode). Results can be filtered by platform.
What does mention rate mean?
It's the share of analyzed AI answers in which a brand is recommended by name or a known alias. A 10% mention rate means the brand appears in one in ten answers.
Why do results differ between AI platforms?
Each AI draws on different sources and surfaces different brands. The sharpest example this week is La Roche-Posay: mentioned in 12.2% of AI Mode answers but only 2.9% of Perplexity answers. Looking at a single platform is misleading.
How often is the data updated?
The index is published weekly. Published weekly results are frozen and never restated. The data on this page covers the week of 13–19.07.2026.
